Landing Styles Influences Reactive Strength Index without Increasing Risk for Injury

Abstract: The aim was to determine which three landing styles—stiff (ST), self-selected (SS), or soft (SF)—exhibit safer landing mechanics and greater jumping performance. Thirty participants (age: 26.5 ± 5.1 years; height: 171.0 ± 8.8 cm; weight: 69.7 ± 10.1 kg) performed five trials of three randomized drop jump (40 cm) landing styles including SF (~60 ° knee flexion), ST (knees as straight as possible), and SS. Knee flexion and valgus angles and kinetics were measured.
Tibiofemoral Contact Properties for Different Flexion Angles on Injured ACL Knee Joint

Abstract: At normal conditions, one of the knee stabilizers most important is the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL). Seven pig knees were subjected to a 700 N compressive load at three different flexion angles. Contact pressure, contact area and peak force were obtained for healthy knees and ACL hyper-extension injury was induced to the knee by a load in the posterior side of the tibia with the knee at full extension until the ligament failed. The study sought to determine the contact mechanics on healthy and ACL ruptured knees.
Is Arm Swing an Effective Factor on Plantar Pressure During Walking?

Abstract: Arm swing is an asymmetrical pattern for hemiplegic population and an effective parameter, which alters kinematics, kinetics and footpressure behaviour on walking. no study, that we aware, has investigated the effects of restricted arm swing in able-bodies, on foot pressure behaviour in different walking speeds. Therefore, the aim of this study was to investigate the alterations of plantar pressure behaviour due to the asymmetrical arm swing in healthy volunteers.
Plantar Pressure Asymmetry and Risk of Stress Injuries in the Foot of Young Soccer Players

Abstract: Asymmetries in the magnitude of plantar pressure are considered a risk factor for stress fracture of the fifth metatarsal in soccer athletes. The objective of this study is to investigate the presence of plantar pressure asymmetries among young soccer athletes. Thirty young adolescents divided into a soccer player group (n = 15) or a matched control group (n = 15) were studied. Mean plantar pressure was determined for seven different regions of the foot. Data were compared between the preferred and non-preferred foot, and between the groups, during barefoot standing on a pressure mat system.
