In Occlusogram Occlusal Force Estimates Compared to T-Scan 10 Relative Occlusal Force Measurements, the researchers sought to compare the estimated occlusal relative force levels in the maximum intercuspation position (MIP) as displayed" by an intraoral scanner (Primescan) to the measured MIP relative occlusal force levels from the T-Scan among the same group of subjects".
They concluded "IOS occlusogram data could not accurately depict occlusal forces with its visual color-coded contact approximation scale, producing an unacceptably high percentage of false positive and false negative indications. IOS occlusograms are virtual estimations of how closely teeth touch but are absent of any true measurements of interocclusal contact forces. Their color-coded representations are at best, crude algorithmic estimates of how closely teeth meet when they are in complete intercuspation."
