The DTR Training Round-Up with the Docs

A pre-Mother’s Day Weekend learning event transpired Friday May 12-13 at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. Tens of doctors met up to learn how to perform Disclusion Time Reduction (DTR) Therapy, a specialized dental treatment procedure that requires the use of T-Scan™ in tandem with an EMG link to evaluate occlusal forces in relation to muscle activity. DTR Pioneers Dr. Robert Kerstein and Dr. Ben Sutter led the two-day event, hosting a special pre-course training on Thursday. We circled back with Dr. Sutter and Dr. Kerstein to see how it went!

“Two days of objective measurement and management of the dental occlusion with doctors from India, Australia, Brazil, Canada and all over the USA.  The amazing thing about this course was we had people with backgrounds in occlusion representing all occlusal philosophies in attendance.  The great thing about DTR is it can work with any post-graduate occlusal philosophy.  It just enhances clinical outcomes by actually measuring and understanding the neuro-physiology that is in play.  This can only be accomplished by objectively measuring the joints, muscle, and tooth forces with technology!  Great course with fantastic doctors!   I can’t wait until the next course in November!” –Dr. Ben Sutter, DMD

“The most noteworthy thing that I saw was the enthusiasm from the attendees to really want to learn this unique occlusal treatment for muscular TMD. The T-Scan components in the course opened their eyes and minds to what's now possible because of the precision T-Scan offers their chronic pain patients. They could now see in the data Dr. Sutter and I presented how DTR alters the patients neurology and understand how DTR removes head and face muscle activity very predictably. They were missing this occlusal knowledge. The applied science reveals a therapeutic difference that makes DTR so effective.

Also seeing the live patient after DTR treatment and the video snippets of pre- and post-DTR treated patients we showed confirmed the type of patient DTR really helps. They already have  them in their practices... it's those who wear splints and still struggle with headaches and jaw issues. The doctors could see the potential to help many that they haven't been able to markedly help with appliances, and that inspired their excitement. It was a great group! I want to thank them all for spending their valuable time with Dr Sutter and I.” –Dr. Robert Kerstein, DMD
